Weekly Scripture Blog

Welcome to The MadLuv Blog; our weekly scripture blog. These blog posts are going to come from the KJV bible, online bible studies, other believers' works, and my personal experiences. I believe that God calls us to do many things and ministering to one another is one of them. I think community is needed on this journey and cannot wait to share all that God has been revealing to me. We have to Grow Thru It and sow the harvest we pray to reap. Amen

Prayer: Thank you, Father God, for all that you have done today on m y behalf, all the hurt harm or danger that you have shielded me from. I appreciate all that you have done in my life and the lives of those who will read this. God, please allow this week's scripture focus to reach many, that they can start to reflect on the meaning of the verses and where they may be at this moment. I ask that you cover, guide and lead them closer to you Lord. I pray that no matter where they may be in life that they know that you are here for them and your love is unconditional. God, please come forth and prick their hearts so that you can be let in, keep knocking so they can experience everything you have in store for them. I know you see the tears and hear the cries God, please don't leave them yet, don't let them go on without you God. I am forever grateful for all you've done on my life. In Jesus name I pray. AMEN!!

Proverbs 17: 1- 28

Of the twenty-eight proverbs found in this chapter we point out but a few. “The fining pot is for silver and the furnace for gold; but the LORD trieth the hearts” (Proverbs 17:3). Man may try silver and gold, but God only the hearts. And He tries the hearts by the refining process, trials and afflictions, the process which rests in His own hands. (See Psalms 66:10Malachi 3:31 Peter 1:7 .)

“He that covereth a transgression seeketh love, but he that repeateth a matter separateth very friends” (Proverbs 17:9). To cover a transgression does not mean to ignore sin. How he who has sinned and is in transgression is to be dealt with is given to us in Galatians 6:1. To act in the spirit of love towards one who has sinned is Christ-like. To repeat the matter, gossip about it, harp on the shortcomings and failure, is Satan-like, for he is the accuser of the brethren.

“A friend loveth at all times, and a brother is born for adversity” Proverbs 17:17). This is beautifully illustrated in the case of David and Jonathan 1 Samuel 18:1; 1 Samuel 19:1; 1 Samuel 20:1). And the great Friend, the brother born for adversity, is the Lord Jesus Christ. He loveth at all times; His love is limitless and timeless. It is the love which passeth knowledge.

Insight: No matter what we want in life, it is in our best interest to consult with God and to lay our lives down from our fleshly desires. When we surrender and ask God to use us for his Glory, we invite the refining and renewing that God has to do to get us closer to him and away from our worldly ways. We are to lead with love and not fuss over things/people we cannot control, we are to avoid sinning and never ignore the sins of others within your own camp/community. No One sin is greater than the other and all sin leads to death. I believe that the best thing about coming to Christ/God and releasing the plans you have, giving God access to you as a vessel. This is so important on our faith journey. We need people and even though someone somewhere may have treated you badly, abused you, or made you out to be the villain in their story. Yet, and still God wants us to allow him to handle these inconveniences and focus on staying sin-free and obedient to his will and his way for us. If you're struggling with raising your children, making ends meet, or just unsatisfied with your choices in life and need help navigating this new lease on life. Read your Word, ask God and walk in patience on his reply. I present you with one question and five reflection questions. HAVE YOU TRIED TALKING TO GOD?

Reflection questions:

  1. Reflect on verse 17. How does this verse shape your understanding of true friendship? Can you provide real-life examples?
  2. How does verse 6 frame the relationship between parents and children?
  3. How can we cultivate the spirit of discernment as advocated in Proverbs 17?
  4. What matters most to you: peace at home or getting more things?
  5. Which family patterns do you want to continue, and which should stop with you?
